A little bit of history

The first reference to Almon is between 997-1031 but Almont-les-Junies was born after the French Revolution. It follows the boundaries of the church of Saint Martin of Almon, built in 1787 and composed of 36 villages, 100 houses and 707 residents. Its name comes from the union of the village of “Almon” (6 houses) and the village of “Junies” (2 houses). In 1993, the city of Almon-les-Junies was renamed Almont-les-Junies and adopted took the final « t » to get closer to the Latin root, Almontis.

Today

Overlooking the Lot Valley, Almont-les-Junies offers beautiful views over the Lot river. The culinary specialty is “Estofinado”, a traditional meal made with Stockfish (unsalted and dried fish, mainly cod) and potatoes, which is very well known in the region and which attracts, every year, a lot of people to taste it in local restaurants. You can find information about Stockfish in front of the restaurant.

This small rural village owes its dynamism to the network of craft, industry and various associations
