A little bit of history

The first mention of Flagnac was in 838, during the construction of the church Saint Martin. A part of the church was subsequently included in the village fortification in the Middle Ages. At the beginning of the 14th century, Flagnac had 240 houses. It was a rural place with wheat agriculture, meadows, fruit, … and famous wine from the hamlet of Agnac. Flagnac also had a port (the port Lacombe)on the Lot river. Outside the hamlet, on a hill, was built the château Pagax. With the development of mining and associated industry in the area, agriculture was more or less abandoned.

Today

Thanks to the river, touristic activity has developed with water sports, kayak, pedal boats and other boats, a play area for children, a water slide and a green rest area. Between May and September, the boat “Olt” proposes lunch cruises and discovery cruises (without lunch) from the port Lacombe.

Flagnac is famous, particularly because of its renowned show “Hier Un Village” which is interpreted and performed by the inhabitants themselves.
